To find books, microforms, or audiovisual materials about your subject, use the Library Catalogue. Location codes and call numbers are included for each item. Selected electronic resources are also included in the Library Catalogue.
Examples of subject headings to check:
European Union
Women in politics
Comparative government
Also, specific companies/organizations, such as:
Canadian National Railways
Amnesty International
United Nations
and names of specific political parties, such as:
Conservative Party (Great Britain)
Progressive Conservative Party -- Canada
Democratic Party
Many headings are used with subdivisions, either for a particular geographical area, such as:
Political parties -- Great Britain
Political ethics -- Canada
or for a particular topic, such as:
Judicial process
Political cartoons -- History
Women -- Developing countries
For help in deciding on subject headings to check, consult the Library of Congress Subject Headings and the Canadian Subject Headings, which can be found in the hallway outside the Learning Commons.
Books are shelved by Library of Congress call number on the Upper Level except for those books located in Reference and Special Collections on the Main Level. Microforms (microfilm and microfiche) are shelved in the Library’s Microforms area, adjacent to Special Collections.
