Robertson Library has over 370,000 ebooks available, on several different platforms.

All of these are findable in OneSearch and in the Library Catalogue.

Use the links below when you have a specific reason to restrict yourself to a single collection (e.g. you need to search the full text of the books themselves).

  • EBSCOhost Ebooks Collection
    Individually purchased ebooks plus over 160,000 in a subscription package. Also full-text searchable through OneSearch.

  • Proquest Ebook Central
    Includes Proquest's Academic Complete Collection and books that were formerly in the EBL, Ebrary, and MyiLibrary platforms - over 200,000 ebooks.

  • Wiley Online Books
    Thousands of ebooks across many disciplines, mostly in the sciences and social sciences.

  • ScienceDirect (Elsevier) Ebooks
    Thousands of ebooks across many disciplines, mostly in the sciences and social sciences.

  • Sage Knowledge - over 5,000 ebooks, mostly in the social sciences, including many important handbooks and encyclopedias

  • Oxford Scholarship - over 5,000 ebooks, mostly in the humanities and social sciences 

  • Project Muse - over 10,000 ebooks mostly in the humanities and social sciences from American university presses - the search also includes our Project Muse journals as well as ebooks

  • JSTOR - over 40,000 ebooks mostly in the humanities and social sciences, search also includes the JSTOR journal collections, but results can be limited to books

  • CRC (Taylor & Francis) Handbooks - about 10,000 handbooks in the following subject areas: engineering, information science, business, computer science, math, and statistics 

  • Cambridge Core - Over 1,000 ebooks in many disciplines

  • CAB eBooks
    Hundreds of recent books in the following subject areas: Agriculture, Animal & Veterinary Science, Environmental Sciences, Human Health, Food & Nutrition, Leisure & Tourism, Plant Sciences, from 2005 - present.

  • Oxford Music Online
    Includes the full text of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (2nd edition; 29 volumes), The New Grove Dictionary of Opera (4 volumes), The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz (2nd edition; 3 volumes),The Oxford Dictionary of Music (2nd edition Revised), The Encyclopedia of Popular Music (4th edition; 10 volumes), and The Oxford Companion to Music.

  • Springer Electronic Book Collection
    All books published by Springer in the years 2005 through to the end of 2007, approximately 9,000 titles. Most Springer ebooks can be downloaded as a PDF with no special account or software needed. A few restrict downloads to portions or chapters. The site search includes many ebooks not purchased by Robertson Library. Use the Advanced Search and turn off "Include Preview-Only Content" to see only the books currently available to UPEI users.
