Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research and Applied Studies (IKERAS)
This guide supports UPEI’s new Faculty of IKERAS and its Indigenous Studies minor. It is a living guide. The creators of the guide will work to align it and library collections with the new faculty’s values and to present research materials that are relevant to Indigenous studies research and respectful of Indigneous peoples. The guide will grow and evolve with our learning and with continued input from faculty, students, and staff.
The University of Prince Edward Island is situated on Epekwitk, which is part of the ancestral, unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Mi'kmaw Nation. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which recognize Mi'kmaw title and establish the ongoing relationship between the Mi'kmaw Nation and the Crown. We are all treaty people.
