Online Rooms at Robertson Library

Taking online and in-person classes at #UPEI in the same day? We can help!  We have four Online Rooms you can reserve in advance. Log in with your UPEI username/password to create a reservation. These rooms are designated for UPEI students taking online courses and needing a space equipped with a computer to synchronously participate in their online course.  Each iMac has a built-in mic and webcam. You will need to provide your own headphones - USB or standard headphone jack.

If you are seeking a room to study in, use the Room Calendar link in the menu to book a room. These rooms are locked and you need to check out the room key at the Service Desk. Log in with your UPEI username/password to create a reservation.

Connecting to Wifi in the Library

Beginning August 4, 2021, Panthernet and Panthernet Open will no longer be available as wifi networks at the University of Prince Edward Island. IT Systems and Services is decommissioning these networks as part of its network revitalization project.

To use wifi in the Library connect to the Eduroam Wi-Fi service.

Visit www.upei.ca/wifi for instructions on how to connect to "eduroam" Wi-Fi. It is important that you do this before August 4, in order to avoid an interruption to your Wi-Fi service.

PEI Community Reads

PEI Community Reads The Skin We're In: A Year of Black Resistance and Power

The PEI community is invited to join the PEI Community Reads book club in reading and discussing the national best-seller, The Skin We're In: A Year of Black Resistance and Power, by award-winning author, journalist, and activist, Desmond Cole.

Every month we read a couple of chapters, learn, and discuss them together using an intersectional and antiracist lens. We invite you to read and reflect on race, injustice, history, and a better future.

PEI Community Reads was launched in February 2021. The group meets virtually via Zoom at 6 pm on the last Tuesday of every month until February 2022.

On Tuesday, December 21st we will be discussing chapters “uncontrolled movement (september)” and “women of exceptional merit (october)”.

Follow our Facebook page for updates and further information.

We are pleased to announce that we will host a special virtual event featuring Desmond Cole in March, 2022. Details will be announced at a later date.

PEI Community Reads is a joint initiative of the UPEI Robertson Library, the UPEI International Student Office, the UPEI Student Union, the Prince Edward Island Public Library Service, Charlottetown Rotary Club, the Rotaract Club of UPEI, and the Black Cultural Society of PEI.

For anyone needing a copy of the book, PEI Public Libraries & UPEI Robertson Library have copies of the book to borrow should you have a library card. Bookmark has offered 15% off the book purchase to those joining PEI Community Reads.
