New OneSearch and EBSCOhost platforms

On the morning of August 19, Robertson Library switched to using the new platform provided by the EBSCO company for its discovery service, which we locally call "OneSearch", as well as for the individually licensed EBSCO databases ("EBSCOhost"). EBSCO refers to this new platform for both services as just "New UI".

The previous platform, now known as "Classic", will continue to be available for special uses while EBSCO continues to migrate some important features to the New UI over the next year.

Below are the relevant links:

Testing of Fire Alarms

Attention patrons: there will be a test of our fire alarm system Wednesday, July 31st.

Please be advised that there will be fire alarm testing in the building sometime during the day. Once the testing begins, it could last up to two hours.

Prior to the alarm system being activated, an audible "This is a test" announcement will be made. There are no evacuation drills associated with this testing. The ringing of alarms is required to test their function and to ensure the speakers work throughout the building.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation!

Commemoration of the Great Upheaval

July 28th is the solemn anniversary of the Great Upheaval, a tragic and pivotal moment in Acadian history.

In 1755 many thousands of Acadians were forcibly displaced from the Maritimes, facing unimaginable hardships and loss during this exodus.

To commemorate this history, Robertson Library has created a special display highlighting the resilience and enduring spirit of the Acadian people. Found in our library lobby, this display features a curated selection of engaging books and historical accounts, along with other resources that chronicle the Acadian experience from their early settlement to the present day.

All materials featured in the display are available for loan!

Plunkett Research Online (trial)

The library is running a 30-day free trial of Plunkett Research online, ending August 22, 2024.

This full text specialty database has extensive profiles and data for companies and industries, including:

  • Market Research
  • Market Sizing and Revenue Forecasts
  • Industry Statistics
  • Profiles of Leading Companies
  • Build-A-Report Tools

Please contact Keltie MacPhail (kmacphail@upei.ca) if you would like to provide feedback about this database during the trial period.
