UPEI's VRE program provides and supports faculty members with cutting edge research environments. The following responsibilties of both parties are recognized:

Islandora is an open source project designed to create a robust digital repository ecosystem that builds on the best of the open source community. The Virtual Research Environment (VRE) is UPEI's instantiation of the Islandora framework, and is designed to reflect the specific needs of the UPEI community (as well as being a test bed for the development of Islandora). Please note: As of March 2021, the VRE program is on hiatus from any new projects. This hiatus is due to strains on our staff and resources, we hope to be able to offer the option for new applications in the future. Any questions or concerns can be directed to Donald Moses.
