Tips and Resources for Sociology/Anthropology 3740 - Tourism

Best Bet: Use OneSearch to combine SocIndex, CAB Abstracts and many other useful indexes into a single search. Limit to peer-reviewed articles as needed.

Articles:

In addition to SocINDEX, the database CAB Abstracts (usually thought of as the veterinary database) has a huge number of articles about the sociology of tourism.

Also check out Science Direct, another surprisingly rich source of full text scholarly articles relating to tourism.

The JSTOR full text core journal collection is also worth searching.

Books:

The Library also has over 1,000 books and government publications relating to tourism, some from a sociological angle, some more business-oriented.  To find the print and e-books you can search OneSearch or for a broad browse, Publication Finder.

You may also want to check the Holland College Library Catalogue for books that support their Travel and Tourism program.

Canadian-specific:

Use the Government search box/tab on the Library home page to find Canadian federal and provincial reports relating to tourism in Canada.

The CBCA: Current Events and Reference database is a mixed scholarly/popular article database with a Canadian focus.

For PEI-specific research, in addition to the Library Catalogue, check out the list of research reports by the PEI Tourism Industry Association.
