Sociology Research (books and articles)
Background material - high quality dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.
- Gale Virtual Reference Library - fewer but longer sources including the International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences, Encyclopedia of Sociology, and many topical works on specific "hot topics" (those and the legal works tend to be US-centric)
OneSearch - finding books and journal articles by topic or specific article, including law reviews, also books, book chapters, videos, etc.
- Search tips: see graphic at the bottom of this page
- Sociology sources only: Under Limit To box on the left, use the Show More link to limit to Sociology (or select both Sociology and Law)
- Narrower: use "Databases Included" at the bottom left to limit to only results from SocIndex with Full Text
- Peer-Reviewed: Use the Peer-Reviewed checkbox under Limit To to get only scholarly articles (will eliminate all books)
- Remove "Also search within the full text of the articles" Expander to narrow search
- Geography - Canada - to narrow search to articles specifically about Canada
- Check@UPEI button - to get to full text when not available
- Links from Check@UPEI to LexisNexis law reviews always fail - edit the HLEAD part of the search to "TITLE" instead and double-check the "source" (journal) name then re-run
