Borrow a telescope from the Library! Thanks to Keith Cooper of the Sidewalk Astronomers of Charlottetown and UPEI Department of Physics.
To borrow the Skywatcher Dobsonian 6" telescope, you will need to present your UPEI Campus Card to the staff at the Service Desk.
If you do not have an UPEI Campus Card, fill out a Patron Registration form, and bring to the Service Desk, after a staff member register's your information, you will be able to sign out the telescope.
Your home address and telephone will be verified for up-to-date contact information.
The telescope equipment is heavy, so you will need to bring a car for transportation and make multiple trips. Staff will not be able to assist with the moving of the telescope.
On checkout, you will need to read the Telescope Borrowing Rules and Guidelines. This will take a few minutes, so please be sure you have enough time to read, also your signature will be required.
At check in, you will also need time while staff goes through the Check in Inventory; you will be asked to sign once completed.
If any piece of the telescope is missing/broken, the telescope will not be checked in. You will be contacted about replacing the missing/broken item. You can see the price of each item from the Telescope Borrowing Rules.
