I’m not sure if this is a book or an article
Sometimes when you are looking at content online, it is hard to know what format it is. Information can come from websites, newspapers, journals, books, videos, podcasts, and more!
If you are unsure if you are looking at a book or an article look for these signs.
Academic books:
- Will often have chapters
- Will often have editors
- Will not normally have multiple authors for each section/chapter
- Will not usually have an issue and volume number (though they may occasionally have a volume number)
Academic journal articles:
- Will be compiled in a journal with multiple other articles
- Will have both a journal title and an article title
- Will not have chapters
- Will usually have a volume and an issue number
- Will usually have an abstract
