Find Open Access articles with Unpaywall

Robertson Library strives to subscribe to as much of the scholarly journal literature as possible, but there are still some journals we can't afford.

Many of the articles in those "missing" journals may have an "open access" (aka free) copy somewhere legally online.

The "Unpaywall" web browser plugin for Chrome and Firefox makes it easy for you to find if the article you need is available for free.

If Robertson Library doesn't have the article and Unpaywall can't find it, be sure to use our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service to request it and we almost definitely can get it for you, usually within just a couple of business days.

To get unpaywall, go to unpaywall.org from the browser you want to install it in.

Unpaywall is a reliable organization from a computer security perspective, and is supported by grants from the US National Science Foundation and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.  It was even recently lauded by an editorial in Nature Magazine.
