Free trial: eHRAF (archaeology/cultures) databases through Feb 28

Interested in world cultures, present or historical?

The library has two databases on "free trial" through February 28,2022.

Both include recent as well as primary historical full text descriptions of peoples/cultures around the world.

eHRAF Archaeology

focuses on in-depth descriptive documents of archaeological traditions from around the world. eHRAF is unique in having subject indexing at the paragraph level.

eHRAF World Cultures

contains information on present and past aspects of cultural and social life for a worldwide sample of societies. The contents are organized by cultures and indexed at the paragraph level by HRAF anthropologists with unique subject identifier codes from the Outline of Cultural Materials (OCM)

For example, here is a link to a Culture Summary document about the Mi'kmaq people, along with other search results, many of which are historical documents (warning: historical primary documents can be offensive).

These two databases can be licensed separately, so if you have feedback about the usefulness of either or both to your studies or research, please indicate which one you are writing about and send it to mbelvadi@upei.ca.
