Chronicling America contains millions of newspaper pages from nearly every state and territory in the United States published from the 1700s through 1963.
As of February, 2024: over 24 million pages and almost 3 million newspaper issues from over 4,000 newspaper titles are full-text and free to search and read. The vast majority are in English, but there are many that are in other languages as well, from German to Choctaw. The search interface includes filters by both language and "ethnicity" for newspapers that are classified as representing particular US ethnic groups.
This is an ongoing and growing project of the US Library of Congress, with newly digitized historic content being added every month.
