Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement

Robertson Library participates in CURBA (Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement), which allows students, faculty, and staff borrowing privileges at most Canadian Universities, through its regional membership in CAAL/CBPA (Council of Atlantic Academic Libraries - Conseil des bibliothèques postsecondaires de l’Atlantique).

UPEI students, faculty and staff must obtain a CAAL card from the Robertson Library in order to borrow directly from those libraries. Please contact the Service Desk, 902-566-0583, or email smerz-wood@upei.ca to find out how you can get your CAAL card.

Reciprocal borrowing privileges are determined by each lending library and CAAL card holders are responsible for following the regulations and policies of that library.

Materials borrowed under this agreement may be returned to any library within the same regional consortium.

Materials may not be returned to libraries outside the regional consortium of the lending library. For example, books borrowed from the University of Ottawa may be returned to Queen's University, but not to the University of Prince Edward Island. UPEI's consortium is CAAL-CBPA.

UPEI retired faculty and staff are also eligible to get a CAAL/CURBA card.
