Finding Books: Engineering

To find books about your subject, use the Library Catalogue. Location codes and call numbers are included for each item. Selected electronic resources are also included in the Online Catalogue.

Examples of subject headings to check:

Engineers
Chemical engineering
Electric engineering
Tunneling

Many headings are used with subdivisions, either for a particular geographical area, such as:

Engineering -- Canada

or for a particular topic, such as:

Engineering -- Computer programs
Engineering -- Handbooks
Engineers -- Biography

For help in selecting subject headings, consult the Library of Congress Subject Headings, located across from the public access computers on the Main Level.

You may also do keyword searches. For this type of search use the Keyword/Advanced search interface.

Books (with the exception of those in Reference and Special Collections) are shelved by Library of Congress call number on the Upper Level.

Some books are in electronic format. The location of these books will be indicated as the Internet. You may access these by clicking on the “chain link” symbol. When accessing from an off-campus computer, use the ID and password that you would use to access your computer account on campus.

Books that have been placed on RESERVE are available from the Circulation Desk.
