Art Competition 2009 Winner!
Art Competition 2009 Winner is Announced!
Congratulations to Warren Christopher Reeson for submitting the winning design in the Robertson Library’s 2009 Art Competition. The physical space targeted for visual improvement by this competition is the upper level lobby area where the photocopiers are currently housed. Mr Reeson’s submission entry addressed three walls in that space.
His proposal includes a series of panels depicting an evolutionary time line of creative and technical achievements illustrated in rich, dramatic colours, on the walls above the photocopiers. The actual panels will be of wood, cut to shape, painted in acrylics, and affixed to the wall. On the wall opposite the photocopiers, a bookcase mural will include a variety of important literary works representing various cultures and times. Installation will begin in the spring/summer of 2010.
This design proposal was deemed the best in invoking “creative images of culture, learning, and information” as requested in the Library’s Call for Submissions document. However, the high caliber and number of submissions made the decision far from easy and, gratefully, we wish to thank all of the artists who contributed proposals to this competition.
This is the Robertson Library’s second art competition. We hold these competitions to improve the quality of the Library environment and also to support Island artists and showcase their abilities.

Congratulations to Warren and Robertson Library
